As working professionals approaching our 40s, we became acutely aware of the need to prioritize our own health and enhance preventative care options. Eager to establish a strong foundation for the future, we sought medical guidance, only to discover a disheartening truth. The scarcity of doctors and overall appointment times meant that resources were primarily allocated to acute cases, leaving a significant gap in preventative and ongoing care. Frustrated by this shortage, we joined forces to create JW Health. Recognizing the pressing need for accessible and personalized healthcare, our vision is simple but profound: Deliver healthcare that's made for this century. At JW Health, we focus on delivering comprehensive, proactive care that caters to families like us by adopting the Patient's Medical Home model. Our Team

Dr. Malika Hudani - Medical Director & Family Physician

Born and raised in Edmonton, AB Dr. Malika Hudani's journey in healthcare has been one marked by dedication and personal growth. Her unique background as a former Occupational Therapist at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, has equipped her with a holistic perspective when approaching patient care, enhancing her bedside manner and understanding of patient needs.

Dr. Hudani's extensive education and training in Family Medicine include graduating from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, in 2020.

Dr. Hudani is deeply committed to educating her patients about their health and bodies, fostering a strong foundation for their well-being. Her approach revolves around creating long-lasting relationships with her patients, with a primary goal of optimizing their health and preventing diseases before they occur.

She has specialized interest and training in Women's Health, Mental Health, Weight Management, Medical Education, and Chronic Disease Management, offering a wide range of services to her patients. Her extensive skill set encompasses various services, including: pelvic exams, cervical cancer screening, IUD insertion and removal, Nexplanon insertion and removal, endometrial biopsy, small joint aspiration/injection, skin biopsies, prenatal and newborn care, patient education, contraception management, menopause management, hormone therapy, chronic disease management and program management.

Dr. Hudani's commitment to medical education has been recognized with teaching awards:
MCW Medical student teaching award (2019)
MCW Medical resident leadership and teaching award (2020)

She has completed several Masters Thesis which have helped shaped her passion:
"Using Online Tools to Help Manage Subclinical Depression" (2010) “Investigating the Patient-Centered Medical Home As a Means of Reducing the Prospective Primary Care Physician Shortage: A Systematic Review." (2015)

When Dr. Hudani is not caring for her patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, exploring new places and experiences and giving back to the community through volunteer work. She also has a soft spot for puppies and is a devoted fan of the Edmonton Oilers, although we do not hold this against her.

Dr. Kare Wallace - Psychotherapist

Kare Wallace joins the JW Health team as our in-house psychotherapist. With over a decade of experience, she has worked with non-profits, health authorities, community mental health centres, and private practice. As a life-long learner, she holds degrees in physics, psychology, as well as a doctorate in psychotherapy and counselling. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Wallace works as a researcher, with several recent publications and other ongoing projects. She also supports the greater mental health community in both educator and supervisor roles.

Having worked with people of all ages and identifiers, Kare specializes in assisting people through life transitions, depression, medical challenges, building resiliency, and non-curative chronic conditions. With advanced knowledge in working with loss, Kare understands that grief looks and feels different for everyone. Using evidence-based practices, she tailors all therapeutic interventions to fit each client and each situation. Valuing authenticity, she works within a client-centred, intersectionality framework, using therapies such as ACT, Narrative, CBT, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused models.

Outside of work Kare enjoys petting random dogs, eating baking that other people make, reading books by a sunny window, and dreaming about learning how to knit. She also likes spending time outdoors and finding adventure in the mountains.

RJ Jamal - Client Experience Manager

RJ Jamal, a Cornell University MBA graduate and a member of CPA Alberta, stands at the forefront of revolutionizing primary healthcare in Canada. As a co-founder of JW Health, RJ has been pivotal in extending the boundaries of traditional care. His leadership has been central to JW Health’s innovative practices, which go beyond the conventional scope of "medically necessary" care in Canada. This innovation means patients at JW Health receive not just treatment, but comprehensive care that encompasses all aspects of health and well-being.
